Maharashtra Mater speaks of the connection to a motherland that can never be severed. It takes the core format of a conversational podcast about a renewed sense of being uprooted when catastrophe elsewhere strikes - an "elsewhere" where the essence of your cultural identity truly resides. Bookended with poetic sound tapestries that will evoke distant geographies, the conversation between Portuguese filmmaker Joao Paulo Simoes and Marathi art-therapist Uzma Kazi revolves around profound and, at times, difficult questions about faith, healing and belonging against the backdrop of the Covid-19 upsurge in India.
